Review of Until Death (2007) by Robert P — 08 May 2009
Better than JCVD: I was pleasantly surprised by this latest Van Damme film. Although the screen play was not of the highest quality, it was surprisingly serious and mature (unlike most "B" action movies).
Although the actor who played the police chief was definitely miscast, the acting overall was better than I expected, especially from Van Damme. The dark, emotionally tortured hero role is the perfect for Van Damme, and director Simon Fellows did a great job with the cast and screenplay he had to work with.
The camera work and especially the musical score were that of an "A" movie!!! I will be looking forward to Simon Fellows' having the opportunity to direct some more serious dramas and high-quality action movies in the future.
