Review of Unthinkable (2010) by Jani M — 02 Oct 2010
Very strong thriller that keeps in it's grip from first minutes all the way to end of credits. American citizen has planted three nuclear bombs in cities across america. He let's himself be caught and interrogation begins.
When situation is grim enough and there is no more options they will bring H (Sam Jackson). There isn't very much told about him but that he is dangerous, sick and has reputation of getting the answers.
At first his character is painted pretty hannibal-lecterous but as movie progress there is more depth to him. Some of the torturing scenes are very strong even that they don't show that much ... or perhaps because of it? Mood is very skillfully build and as stakes get higher the methods escalate from bad to worse.
At the end everyones humanity will be measured and age old question comes to mind: Does need of the many outweigh needs of the few?
