Unthinkable is an engaging thriller that centers on one theme: how far would you go to get something done?
The movie begins with an American born terrorist, Steven Arthur Younger(Michael Sheen), releasing a video saying he has planted 3 nuclear bombs in 3 major American cities that will all detonate in 4 days time if his demands aren't met.
Carrie-Anne Moss plays FBI Agent Helen Brody. Her office is assigned to the case but she & her colleagues learn that their jurisdiction has been trumped by the U.S. military & CIA. Samuel L. Jackson plays H, a black-ops interrogator with a very special brand of interrogation techniques.
What follows next is the heart of the movie. How far would U.S. officials go to get information that could possibly save thousands of life. Do you throw humanity out the window to achieve your goals? Just what constitutes torture? And if torture is used, will it even work?
You clearly see that H is very good at what he does but is he comfortable with his tactics? Brody is the human presence in this film. She realizes that torture under any circumstance is wrong. Younger also realizes America's tactics and simply says, "I can take it.".
While the movie starts off slow, it quickly picks up due to the tension between H., Younger and Brody. The performances turned in by Jackson, Sheen and Moss are good and this movie is definitely worth a watch.
It was supposed to have a theatrical release earlier this year but Sony pulled it because of the graphic content & themes.
