Review of Unthinkable (2007) by Michael V — 30 Dec 2011
A damn good thriller. I wouldn't go to the point to call it a political thriller like some but call it a thriller involving human nature in a highly volatile political world. It doesn't follow the Hollywood formula which so many do to get bums on seats.
And with the star power and plot it easily could have been like 24: The Movie. (I love 24 just so you know) There isn't even a romantic subplot which I found to be a very refreshing glass of water.
Simply put this film attempts to explore moral boundaries. Our own just as much as those of all the players. Unlike many people that watch this film I didn't come away feeling I'd been exposed and tricked into some liberal agenda or NWO propaganda.
The setting and time period of this film could be changed to anything else. Just being a Muslim with a terrorist plot highly reflects to what is going on today and gets people's attention to what the real messages are.
Finding the line's we draw and what will it take to get us to cross them. How can you balance the horrible things you as a person can do to outweigh the benefits? Are you still a good person because you insanely tortured a person to find out information in order to save lives? This isn't an enjoyable film or entertaining in the common sense but it is highly engaging and thought provoking.
Every actor brings their A game backed up by a wonderful script and a flow that never makes it boring or repetitive and still gives you time to get to know and understand everybody.
