Review of Unthinkable (2007) by Lee C — 19 Oct 2012
The best way to determine the power of cinema is not to examine the end product, but to examine the director's intent and how it is fulfilled. The other reviewers have summarized the movie, I wanted to simply add a point in it's favor that I feel was overlooked, and which demonstrates what I mean. The manner in which this movie progressed, even right up to the message to be gleaned in the folds of the fallen curtain, was in keeping with the prescient questions on every audience member's mind: how far is too far, how far is far enough, and can the two be reconciled morally?
If you are thinking about seeing this movie, I can't recommend it enough. There are just not enough movies that conceptualize a plausible trolley-esque (or Dershowitzian) situation, then force the viewer to grapple with the questions as the credits roll unnoticed to music they couldn't remember even if 'H' had a hold of them.
