Review of Unthinkable (2007) by Fergus R — 20 Jan 2013
Eeeshk. This film raises numerous unanswerable questions about the rights and wrongs of torture used to extract intel from terrorists. Fortunately, it doesn't give it's opinion as to when it is wrong/right, instead just plays it all graphically out on screen for you and you can use your own moral compass to decide when it's gone too far.
. Which sounds easy (ie, when they get the wife and children involved) but the scale of morality tends to slide when there's millions of lives at risk and killing off these two kids could save them.
. But then whose hands is the blood on? Should you care you have two kids blood on your hands when you have saved a million more? This wouldn't really happen on American soil would it? Why does the US location make it worse? Why does Samuel L Jackson's character seem to enjoy torturing people so much? I am none the wiser, infact if anything, more muddled.
