Review of Unstoppable (2010) by Jason V — 27 Jun 2012
I'm perplexed at all the wildly positive reviews for Unstoppable. Am I saying this movie is total trash? Not at all. There are some genuinely entertaining moments-Rosario Dawson's interactions with a company VP, for instance.
However, too much of it rests on cliches and things we seen a dozen times. Broken relationships, families not getting along, mealy mouthed bosses who think they know everything and so on. Washington and Pine make for an intriguing acting combination and Tony Scott makes watching trains speed up and down railways halfway exciting.
But how many different ways are there to film two men talking inside a cramped space? And how many ways are there to make it exciting?
