Review of Unstoppable (2010) by Movie K — 13 Jan 2013

A different kind of action thriller. Quite enjoyable. Chris Pine is a new train conductor, finding old timer Denzel Washington. Train 777 with a non-working brake is to be moved and Ethan Suplee go ahead the job.

The track in front didn't switch and he got down to change it, but the train stick move to throttle and it become a runaway train. Chris and Denzel travel in train 1206 to attach carriages. Chris is on the phone and later made some mistake.

Denzel isn't happy of his performance. An excursion train full of kids is told to deviate to avoid collision. Rosario Dawson is in controls. Lew Temple is send by her to change the front track but he didn't see the train pass him.

Chris have a court case to worry about and didn't concentrate his work. He added 5 extra cabin to their train. Denzel and Chris argues. Rosario tells them to siding. 777 carry lots of hazardous materials.

1206 can't go siding because too big. They must go faster to the next siding to avoid collision. Train operation Kevin Dunn is to send another train man by a veteran to slow 777 down, and then heli repel a guy to the control cabin.

It didn't work as the heli guy smash into the windows. The veteran train is derailed and exploded. 1206 and 777 is head on and Denzel manage to make it in time. Kevin plan to derail 777 in a remote part before it hits the populated town.

Denzel know the idea won't work on 777. They detach the cabins and travel backwards to chase 777, going to attach it and slow it. Kevin is against the idea and threaten to fire them. Denzel says he already received the letter of early dismissal with half benefits.

Still he plan to go ahead. Indeed the derail plan fails. Chris and Denzel talks about their personal life. Denzel wife die 4 years ago. Chris suspect his wife having affair and now fighting custody. Their heroic act is on TV and the daughters and wife saw.

They finally chase down the train, Chris go out to guide Denzel. The attachment didn't lock and Chris hurt his foot while trying to lock .1206 is been dragged instead. Denzel go to individual cabin for manual brake.

1206 brake box spoils. They approach the danger bed and Denzel want Chris to apply the independent brake sparsely. They didn't derail but Denzel can't move forward anymore due to big gap. Lew arrives in his truck and Chris jump down.

They go ahead and Chris jump onboard 777 and control the brakes. They become heroes of the town. Denzel is promoted and later retire with full benefits. Chris marry his wife and second child is on the way.

Rosario is promoted to Kevin job whereas he is fired.
