Review of Unstoppable (2010) by P H — 23 Mar 2013
The problem with the movie is that its too "Hollywood". The cookie cutter template they use kills the movie for me. New hired guy has to be taught by the old-vet cause the audience doesnt know crap about trains (like it matters). Then there is the EVIL corporate guy who only cares about money and not actual people. Oh and dont forget the inept police and national guard who cant get one man into a speeding train. Dude, it cant even swerve!!! Maybe they should have called in the coast guard who rescues passengers on boats in damn hurricanes!
All that said, its still a decent ride and entertaining. Just dont expect anything new and awesome. Youve already seen this movie a million times and know exactly how everything is going to end.
This movie would have been better in the hands of an independent film maker and follow the actual story this is based on where the train conductor lost the brakes and had to find a way to stop the train before colliding into a few hundreds tons of chemicals.
