Review of Unstoppable (2010) by Ian T — 01 Jul 2013
A runaway train that is virtually unstoppable. A good idea for a movie that makes for a suspenseful and eventually cheerful movie when they finally bring the train to a halt. Denzel is his usual cool and collective self and is joined by Captain Kirk(Chris Pine) who make for a fun pair in this film.
You dont know how the two who will stop the train but you know that Denzel will find a way. Unstoppable will bring you to the edge of your seat as it nears the sharp turn in Stanton. It will also have you wanting to raise your hands and cheer along with those watching this unfold on the news in the movie.
This movie has somewhat of a plot outside of the runaway train story but it is not fully developed. Instead the director decided to give you just enough information to where you will have a reason to root for these guys as they become heroes.
On a side not, I cant help but mention how stupid and lazy they make the guy from My Name is Earl look as he stumbles while trying to get back on his train from being fat and uncoordinated. I guess the director was trying to send us a message to not be like that guy.
Anyways, Unstoppable is an intense film about a subject that has not been overkilled yet and having two great actors in the lead make this a great film.
