Review of Unstoppable (2010) by Mike S — 27 Apr 2014

Considering that not much really happens, this is a decent thriller about a runaway train. Naturally, it's carrying highly toxic cargo and is speeding towards a sharp turn in a large town. It must be stopped before it derails and kills a bunch of people. Enter Denzel Washington and Chris Pine, two regular train workers who are in the wrong place at the wrong time and have to try to save the town.

There are a lot of helicopter shots of trains speeding through the Pennsylvania countryside. Pine and Washington work well together as the rookie and the veteran. There's a lot of cliche here, but the fast-paced editing keeps it moving. It also keeps you from thinking too deeply about how ridiculously unrealistic this probably all is.
