'Unsane' broaches the topic of mental health in a way that is true to the culture, in which it is hidden underneath a blanket, ignored, and can result in acts that don't fit with the stereotype of what's appropriate in different settings.

If anything is to be said positive of this movie, the acting of Claire Foy in both sanity and stressed states is wonderful, but the writing falls deeply short of typical responses that she portrays. The suspension of disbelief is constantly challenged as in some scenes, Foy's character speaks of "needing to get out of there" when the front door is visible in frame.

While the film tries a novel approach by utilizing an iPhone as the mainstay tool, lighting, visual effects, and screenplay should have received greater attention - as it stands, with the components as they are, the film would have been at least somewhat chilling had it been done frame by frame on a Motorola RAZR.
