Review of Unleashed (2005) by Derek B — 30 Apr 2009

Very entertaining film which achieves a tricky balance between pathos, cliche (but in a good way), and action. Jet Li is great, and the fight scenes are marvellous. Okay the plot twists and turns in some pretty stupid ways, and Bob Hoskins is such a comic-book villain (and implausibly indestructible), while Morgan Freeman is just too noble to really ring true, but it transcends these weaknesses, always holds your attention and it's even rather touching.
