Review of Unleashed (2005) by Mehyar M — 07 Nov 2009
This film really shows off Jet Li's acting chops. I can see how action fans might be disappointed by the slowness of the middle third of the film, but that's really where its heart lies. Maybe I'm just strange, but I find watching Jet Li eat his first ice cream cone infinitely more compelling than watching him fight (even though he's the absolute best at that too). Let's face it, the movie is very uneven, but it was never boring.
BTW, does anyone else think Flixster's selection of movies is sorely lacking? I also wanted to review Jet Li's Tai Chi Master (4 stars also), but Flixster was all like, "Huh?" It doesn't have any of the Masters of Horror series either. Bad Flixster.
