Review of Unleashed (2005) by Al L — 29 Dec 2009
Jet Li's best career performance. "Unleashed" is a creative and gritty film which does well in contrasting the two worlds Danny (Li) finds himself a part of. The cast was phenomenal; Morgan Freeman provided a great backbone to Li's character, with Bob Hoskins perfecting the role of antagonist without making it too fictional and Kerry Condon (who plays Victoria) providing warmth along with Freeman's characer and some comical relief.
The fighting sequences, though not as hyper-drived as predicted, were done well. I think the action culminated best during the fight scene in the bathroom and really illustrated choreographer Yeun Wo Ping's creativity.
There were some awkward emotional moments on Li's part, but did not distract from a well-written story.
