Review of Unlawful Entry (1992) by Terrence N — 11 Aug 2009
Sometimes you associate the weirdest things with certain films that really have nothing to do with the film itself. Case in point, the first place I ever saw Unlawful Entry was in my flaming homosexual uncle's VHS collection.
So for a long time during my childhood I associated this film with deviance and buggery. I eventually evolved and kicked my childhood homophobia, this was one of the first gay things I wanted to experience.
Sadly it had very little to do with homosexuality and was probably in my uncle's collection because he either just enjoyed mediocre movies or jerked off to Ray Liotta (whom I'd also chose over Kurt Russell, Liotta being more manly in my opinion).
Liotta is in love and willing to do everything to woo her, even if that means killing his partner and framing an innocent man. We've all been there. Love makes you do crazy things. I think this sort of movie has been done a bunch of times and this is probably one of the better ones.
Kurt Russell's character was a bitch and the moment he declined some paul kersey justice on a junkie who held a knife to his wife's throat was when I hoped Liotta would eat his heart. This is one of those movies that entertains while you watch it but once you try to remember what you just watched your brain could give a fuck.
Entertaining and forgettable.
