Review of Unknown (2011) by John T — 06 Dec 2007
Seven years ago I watched a brilliant film called Memento and it still remains one of my all time favourites. Unknown has a lot in common with Memento . Firstly it co stars Joe Pantoliano and secondly the story is about memory loss. Although Unkown tries to reach the hights of Memento i'm afraid it falls a long way short.
Five men wake up in a locked warehouse. A chemical leak means they have lost their memories, with no wareness to who they are or why they are there. They soon realise that a kidnapping has brought them together and they have to decipher who is good, who is bad and how to get free before the person responible for organising the entire thing turns up...
The premise is a really good one and by know means is this a bad movie but it somehow just does not deliver.
The acting is good as it should be with the likes of Greg Kinnear and James Caviezel and it looks good but the film's whole does not add up the sum of it's parts and you have to wonder why the running time is only 80 minutes .
Having said all this it is entertaining but you feel it could have been so much better.
6 out of 10.
