Review of Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2010) by Samitha G — 14 Feb 2010
Very violent right from the beginning, violent in a very uncompromising way and...well, in a very entertaining way as well (no really, I mean it). There's hardly any dialogue at all and lemme tell you: It don't mean nothing. Fuck no, let them AKs do the talking instead ;) The plot is so refreshingly braindead, it's just entertainment all the way.
Seriously, I thought it would suck ass (y'know kinda like Sniper 2 & 3), but no no, I was pleasantly surprised instead. There's so much funny shit in this here flick that you can't just let it go unnoticed. I mean, take Eastern Europe for instance...gotta love the place! There's abandoned industrial complexes, fucked up nuclear reactors, AK-toting separatists, mad scientists on the run, bad ass experimental soldiers gone crazy, the odd kidnapping (Sofia is a beautiful city btw) and last but not least, it's always wintry and muddy in Eastern Europe. Makes you wanna go there like fuckin A!
As for the somewhat "aged" cast, don't worry. Dolph and Jean-Claude can still kick ass (JCVD goes apeshit on a restaurant in Switzerland and he does it in such a mental way that you just KNOW he's still in the game).
I think it's safe to say that this is not a chick flick.
