Review of Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning (2012) by Sean P — 10 Nov 2012
â'Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning' is freggin batshit insane and I LOVE IT! The story makes practically no sense, but once you start getting into the movie it doesn't make any difference.
I do have to come clean with something though. Ha...ving seen this one now, I've seen all 6 Universal Solider movies. Yes, there are 6 of them. This one is kind of a sequel to 'Universal Solider: Regeneration', sorta.
Again, not that any of that matters. This movie is balls out crazy. I actually think the director might need some mental help, for reals. There's amazingly choreographed fight scenes. A ridiculously realistic car chase.
A Terminator like secondary badguy that looks EXACTLY like Gerard Butler, and since he never says anything it's easy to imagine him having that Scottish accent if he were to speak. It was just weird.
Also very weird is that several times during the movie I think they were really trying to brainwash me. At least twice there's a blinding strobe light and Jean-Claude's face spliced in between the flashes that seem to make you want to go out and buy 'Bloodsport' or 'Street Fighter' or something.
Was trippy as hell. Plus seeing Dolph and Jean-Claude back together is gotta be a thing now, like JD and Turk from Scrubs only insanely violent and masochistic. And the end of this thing, daaaaaaamn! This is totally my new favorite movie.
You should see it. Then you should strap your kids or parents down and make them watch it just to see what happens.
