Review of Universal Soldier (1992) by Kristian L — 19 Aug 2007
This was huge. The moment we`ve all been waiting for. The ultimate matchup. Forget Freddy Vs. Jason, forget Brad Pitt Vs. Angelina Jolie, this is the most important on screen pairing of all time, Van Damme Vs.
Lundgren. That`s what they should have called this. When I was young I freaked out over this movie and you know what? It still holds up pretty well. The action scenes are really good (especially the opening Hoover Dam sequence) the story is kinda cool and the acting is pretty good.
That`s right, both Van Damme and the Dolph gave really good performances. Van Damme played the child inside a killing maching part really well but the real showstopper is Dolph`s crazy ass fucking phycho bad guy.
He`s hilarious, especially in the super market scene. The final battle between the two (which the whole film has been building up to) is a bit of a letdown and rips off Cyborg but this movie still rocks.
