Review of Universal Soldier (1992) by Tristan E — 04 May 2008
There's a time when type casting can really work out. Both the leads here are perfect as monosyllabic, slightly bonkers super soldiers. It's hardly the most demanding of roles but I guess that's kind of the point.
The story isn't actually as dumb as one might be led to believe and at least it all makes some sort of sense.
Add to that a slew of decent action sequences and a decent one on one smackdown between Van Damme and Lundgren, even if it does end comically, and what you've got is an entertaining but brainless offering.
