Review of Universal Soldier (1992) by Jason A — 24 Dec 2008
A tour de force of 80s/early 90s action cinema. Two powerhouse thespians (Lundgren and JCVD) share screen time and tear down the cinema, until it's set on fire. This movie has everything: reanimated zombie soldiers, big trucks, explosions, gun battles, kickboxing showdowns in the rain in a barn, glistening van damme buttocks, Ally Walker one liners, the guy from Best of the Best 2 on fire, spin kicks, necklaces made of human ears, and jukeboxes.
I'd say you have no soul if you don't enjoy the sheer stupidity that this movie reaches. In one scene, the Dolph quips: "Are we having fun yet?" Yes we are, Dolphmeister. Yes, we sure are.
