Review of United 93 (2006) by Derek O — 10 Sep 2011
Gripping yet respectful. The right way for cinema to respond to tragedy: to give it an honest voice, from all sides, and provide understanding to those trying to make sense of loss. As a film it was a soaring achievement in its precision and human cast.
It also benefited from us knowing the painful end, a feeling that is close to unattainable on the screen without the power of the true events behind it.
