Review of UnHung Hero (2013) by David K — 05 Jan 2015

A riDICKulous cockumentary. IMMENSELY funny, at least at the start. It really is a decent topic: a frank conversation about whether or not size really matters and the effect that question has on men around the globe. But is this a frank documentary? That's a little more gray than I'd like.

For the first 45 minutes I was laughing maniacally. The guy in the docu had a viral proposal fail, allegedly because he was too small. So he made this movie to get a, ahem, bigger consensus on the subject. For a while, it's a novel subject and approached mostly comically, so I laughed. After that, it begins to drag a bit. There's not much valuable science in here (say unlike Supersize Me or Super High Me where actual tests are done to establish cause and effect).

Mostly, this guy takes heat for the documentary. Some hidden cameras didn't go over well. An angry flight was suspect. The ending is unlikely. And just who would put himself out there like this? But I guess that's what I liked about it. At first, he's really believable as a guy going through this. Even I got a little suspect as the documentary moved along, but still, this guy put his face on the issue and that takes some really. big. balls. I just wish it had been done more scientifically. It's a very interesting topic.

PS: Speaking of. Best theory I heard which was early on...many years ago, boys showered together at school and saw each other's genitals. They had an idea of what the competition was. Now days, kids cover up in the shower and leave a lot of wonder and worry to the mind. That's a pretty damn interesting theory.
