Review of Unfriended (2014) by Kenny N — 18 Sep 2015
The masters of found footage horror at Blumhouse Productions have created this terrifying winner. The presentation is unique: the whole film is displayed through a computer screen as a cute girl named Blaire Lily video chats with friends, listens to music, messages her boyfriend.
..and then ends up on the receiving end of the vengeful wrath of a girl thought to be dead but who now wants Blaire and her friends dead instead! The whole experience is disorienting-opening and closing windows, reading messages, trying to pick out key dialogue over everyone on video chat talking at once.
But there are scares and bloodshed aplenty. Overall, a fresh take on the found footage genre, and a horrifying trip into a nightmare on a netbook.
