Review of Unfriended (2014) by Pipec — 30 Dec 2015
'Unfriended' opens the doors to all fans of the genre to a new horror world. Throughout the years in the film world, Filmmakers, fans and even more producers have sought in one or another way to leverage the latest trend to ensure a resounding success. For example of this, Levan Gabriadze presents a project we've not ever seen, told in real time on the teenager's screen. For salvation of fans, this project revolutionizes so saturated name "Found Footage ". The link recording works quite well , a bit reflective, a bit thoughtless appropriate for a bright and intelligent work as it is 'Unfriended'.
You might expect, despite restrictions the square device, that 'Unfriended', would experience somewhat irritated, with the limitation of windows and tabs between clicks and clicks could ruin the whole experience, fact it surprisingly did not. We're already so accustomed to "Found Footage" that the idea of watching movies in a familiar device sounds quite incomprehensible. But this isn't an exercise in new-media theory, and Gabriadze gets rid of some tabu about the presence of these devices in our lives.
It is a very elaborate work, implemented through a Skype chat anguish, fear and suspense , which is already very strange to see. But it would not be a teen movie without the presence of sexual references , drugs, bad language , betrayal , dishonesty, promiscuity and all that surrounds being a stupid and inhumane teenager. Gabriadze took the presence you're getting the bullyng and cyberbullyng in our era , to create one of the most innovative films of the year , playing with the minds of young people ( in a good way) hungry for something new. The director's mental game is to mix and give the right tone to the most appreciated tastes and the most appreciated errors for a teenager, Undoubtedly , the main audience of the horror genre are teenagers , so the horror is a key element, be reflected on the screen by the same characters ( teens) makes the connection more intimate, use social media a young use every day , almost as a necessity (Skype , Spotify , Facebook , Youtube ) intertwined more deeply the relationship film - audience, language and idioms implemented in the chats (Blaire - Mitch or billie227 - Chat Group) and adolescent taste to mock and trample other complete the list of deployed for connection. Unfriended reflect to perfection the current youth problem ( be inspired by real events of suicidal young ) by going beyond the barriers and bringing a film enjoyable , entertaining , full , and even moral.
Blumhouse Productions has been characterized by low budgets to give horror movies generally , for big profits but, to show its excellence and quality has been one of the best releases of horror (Obviously after "The Conjuring" , the queen of all decades ) and already confirmed its sequel.
Most of these projects are cut from the same cloth , but the Unfriended function is not just sensationalism, this film , take your breath away, fully ruin your expectations, exceeding them and filling you with ecstasy and satisfaction. Too scary to see, but masochism will make you spend a formidable and unforgettable experience. There are very real and sentimental elements coursing along the horror story. More impressive is how effectively illustrates Gabriadze brutal judgment of Laura : When the show arrives movie genre. The result is a great and strange horror movie mixed with hints of thriller that tries to be the starting point for a new wave of horror.
Welcome! Here I receive with open hands!
'Unfriended' is a visual feast , managing to be more intimate combining the social problems with supernatural aspects, something quite surreal that became very real.
