Review of Unfriended (2014) by Kevin R — 18 Sep 2015
Get the knife.
A group of friends had an unfortunate circumstance happen at their school where they shamed a girl on Facebook and the girl killed herself. The friends stay in contact via Skype and still party together. One inauspicious night while talking on Skype a new friend appears, under the dead girl's profile, and has some requests for her former associates...
"If you hang up, all your friends will die.".
Levan Gabriadze, director of Lucky Trouble, Yolki 2 & 3, and the upcoming Unfriended 2, delivers Unfriended. The storyline for this picture is imaginative and fairly well done in a Paranormal Activity kind of way. The special effects are better than average and the kill scenes are solid. The acting is mediocre and independent film quality.
"Why do you have such a big boner, bro?".
I thought the previews for this looked good so I recently grabbed it from Red Box. I actually enjoyed watching this movie unfold. It did get stale in parts, but was impressive and well thought-out. This is a nice addition to the genre with a creative storyline. I strongly recommend seeing this for fans of the horror genre.
"What do you want?".
Grade: C+.
