A very interesting take on the western. It turns all the timeless generic conventions of characters and events on its head. Clint Eastwood acts and directs wonderfully. Gene Hackman is great; all the acting is superb.
A very raw and sometimes brutal look at the real Old West and how its wanton violence affects everyone. Terrific movie.
