Review of Unforgiven (1992) by Shane D — 18 Jun 2011
One of the best stories that I have seen in recent years. Clint Eastwood gives possibly the greatest performance of his career and his directing is masterful. " I ain't like that no more" he says only he doesn't right away realize that he is becoming more and more like he used to be.
He teams up with a kid (Jaimz Woolvett ) who is completely right for the role, as they continue to hunt for these cowboys, William Munny begins to wonder if its worth it or not, the scene where he drinks again is a very important scene because it sets up for an incredible finale.
In the final scene Eastwood shows once again that he is the greatest western star of all time, the dialogue that is spoken and the man with nothing to lose was truly an incredible scene I loved how there was no music during the scene.
Gene Hackman's character Bill goes on my list of most unlikeable characters in movie history with percy from the Green Mile and Cunningham in Rob Roy. Morgan Freeman is also perfect for the role of Ned.
Unforgiven is a flawless story with an absolutely riveting performance from Eastwood definitely one of the greatest westerns of all time but it is also one of the greatest dramas I have ever seen. Clint Eastwood is a master.
