Review of Unforgiven (1992) by Jasen L — 02 Sep 2012
This is a real "mans" movie and I say that fully aware of how sexist it may sound, but everything about it speaks to the masculine majority of me. First it's a western which has it's own certain masculine connotation.
Second the story is based around a man who changes his outlaw ways for the woman he loves and then struggles to remain honourable after her death when he is asked to kill again (something that comes naturaly to him).
I appreciate the lonely struggle and the attached metaphors that relate to so many men. All that and a brialliantly talented cast, Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman can hardly do wrong. Beautiful filmed landscape scenery.
