Review of Unforgiven (1992) by Iggy A — 27 Apr 2014
Very good old-school Western with a little bit of a post-modern flavor. (Meaning: No straight-forward heroes.).
If you take it along with other Westerns in that period, like Tomestone (1993) or Young Guns (1988) and Young Guns II (1990), you should appreciate Unforgiven more. Those other movies were good, but they were somewhat safer to make, because they are classic hero tales like many of the pre-1960s Westerns. Clint Eastwood made a name for himself in gritty, anti-hero Westerns like this, but by 1992, he hadn't done one in a while (that I can remember), and nobody else had really done it either, so Unforgiven stood out and was applauded for it...
