Review of Unforgiven (1992) by Christian John V — 08 Jun 2014
Unabashedly violent, this Oscar-winning Western has enough heart and meditation on crime and punishment to warrant reflection. Eastwood is brilliant, so is Gene Hackman as the villainous sheriff. This film made me appreciate the nature of criminality, the scourges of age and poverty, the need for self-defense, and the all-around specter of death.
Bravo!
