Review of Unforgettable (2017) by Stephen M — 07 Dec 2017
Surprisingly well directed and acted, sexy fatal attraction-y thriller. Katherine Heigl is just fun, fun, FUN as psycho bitch Barbie.
Ex-wife Tessa! This is the perfect role for her. I always felt athough My Father, The Hero was her very first starring role, that she was a much better dramatic actress than comic. Rosario Dawson, who plays Julia gives weirdly one of her best performances here, of all movies! Whitney Cummings as, naturally, the wisecracking best friend Ali is pretty impressive and Cheryl Ladd is memorable (which given it's title you should expect to be, right) as Tessa's icy, judgmental mother Helen. Geoff Stulz too is also solid playing the 'hapless' ex-husband/fiancé David who both women catfight over, figuratively and literally the entire movie until it's inevitable bloody 'showdown' at the end. Oh, to be that unlucky...
If you're in the mood to just kick back, not have to think too much and enjoy what is essentially a glorified Lifetime 'women in duress' film with better production value and quality acting, take a chance on Unforgettable. No academy award winner, to be sure and it may be trash, but it's good trash.
