Review of Unfinished Business (2015) by James O — 18 Mar 2015
Unfinished Business is directed by Ken Scott and stars Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson and Dave Franco. Am I the one guy that liked this film? I think so after watching some of the youtube reviews. After quitting his job, Vince Vaughn, in a Jerry Maguire-ish way, joins forces with Tom Wilkinson and Dave Franco to start their own company. They've been working a deal for over a year, and they have to get "the handshake" to close the deal. This is where things go awry. Vince is dealing with problems at home over skype, simultaneously jumping through hoops trying to close the deal, which of course, his previous employer is trying to close also.
I kind of got the feeling that they didn't quite know how to label this film. It certainly wasn't a drama. Not the typical comedy you expect from a Vince Vaughn film, but I liked it. It depicts, somewhat over the top, what it takes to have a family and deal with personal issues while on the road for work. It touches on what all three of them are dealing with in their own lives.
The film felt a bit choppy and not sure what it wanted to be, but it put me in a better mood than when I went in. Always a good thing.
