Review of Unfaithful (2009) by Avia A — 16 Mar 2008
Surprisingly good. The first part of the movie was more like a softcore porn for housewives. The sex scenes between Diane Lane and his french boy toy were quite raunchy, but it's kind of interesting to watch how different sex with the lover and sex with the husband were.
The characters and the casts are great. Diane Lane's performance as an unfaithful wife was flawless, incredibly stunning and together with Richard Gere, they gave one of the most solid and powerful acting I've ever seen.
The film itself portrays the complexity the husband-wife relation, the sexual desire and what an exraconjugal affair can do to a family.
The scene on the train where Diane Lane's character recalls her first sexual encounter with the french guy was particularly remarkable. In spite of the ambiguous ending that left such a big question mark on my head, I think Unfaithful is a powerful melodrama and it's worth watching.
