Review of Undiscovered (2005) by Sanjaya & — 19 Apr 2006
I know. Looking at this, you have to wonder why I even took the time and money to rent this movie in the first place. I tell you now that I have no idea why I bothered.
The group of lackluster stars (Kip Pardue aside) and the inane plot should have turned me away instantaneously....but I have always been a sucker for romantic comedies, so I decided to give it a shot.
Boy meets girl. Boy loses girl. Boy meets girl again. Boy and girl are both stupid. Boy and girl lose each other. Boy and girl realize that they were being morons. Boy and girl reunite on a plane at 30,000 feet. Boy and girl live happily ever after, in Jamaica.
Aside from a few new plot additions, this is the same tired story that has been trashed to death many times over.
Add some singing, sadly most of it is annoyingly whiny music and songs from an Ashlee Simpson record, and you have everything you need to know to keep yourself from watching this film.
The only entertaining, saving grace of this movie...and what earned it the measly two stars I gave it, is the fabulous skateboarding bulldog. I kept watching the film just to see if he would be in anymore scenes.
Loyal readers, if this alone isn't enough to convince you to walk away, just imagine this: Ashlee Simpson's character is the best one in this film. Run screaming now, I know you want to.
