Review of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009) by Michael V — 30 Jan 2012
The direction is a little more frenetic than the previous installments as is the editing which is too jerky and chopped up, the absence of Beckinsale leaves something to be desired, the storyline is just a full length movie version of backstory we already know which gives us nothing new, and the special effects often times look like incomplete.
But to the credit of the studio the films are still rated R, giving audiences gory horror/action that they want instead of toning it down to PG-13 to bring in a bigger audience. So watching the werewolves kill people is still enjoyable despite everything else.
