This third entry in the Underworld series provides an entertaining yet limited prequel to the first two films, but it is ultimately far from revolutionary or compelling. Rise of the Lycans still plays out the same tired story vampires versus lycans with lycans in the role of the oppressed, enslaved minority.
Like the first two films, Rise of the Lycans has a cool, twilight aesthetic, but it fails to add anything genuine to this universe's story.
