Review of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (2009) by Nathan B — 26 Jan 2012
I personally think its the best film of the series so far. since Awakening has just opened that might change? I was skeptical at first because this was a prequel and didnt have the extreamly beautiful Kate Beckensale in this one.
It didnt matter though because it did have the equally beautiful Rhona Mitra (who coincidently looks very similair to Beckensale) as sexy gothic eye candy... anyway this film is the best of the series because it has the best actual story, plot and acting.
Speedman, from the first two, was just plain annoying in his role as Michael so glad to see him gone. Rhona, as much as I love Beckensale, is a better actress so more points to her. Sheen's performance as Lucian was the best of the series so massive props to him.
The story was a good story that had a good flow. some people might not like it because it's moreso a tragic love story rather than a action packed bloodfest of the previous two films but that is what made the story so good in my opinion.
