It'a actually quite simple - if you don't make an effort and accept the lore of "Underworld", then this movie is an unavoidable disaster. I mean, come on, vampires fighting werewolves, who would come up with this kind of bullsh.... oh, wait a second! :-).
Anyway... if you do try to get into proper spirit, it's actually not half-bad.
