Review of Underworld: Evolution (2006) by John M — 20 Feb 2010
The sacrifice of story in favor of more action. So it picks up right where the first Underworld left off, with the vampires still warring against the Lycan werewolves (Werewolf. WEREWOLF.) One of the elder vampires dies, and Marcus, the other elder vampire awakens, only he's a new breed of vampire now, I don't know, the story was pretty difficult to follow.
It was about halfway through the movie when I realized that I still wasn't completely clear about what was going on; I could identify all the different characters and their motives, but why this muddied story was being told I hadn't the foggiest.
There is a lot more action to be found here, even if they do feel like action set pieces. It's not a bad movie; I'm just a guy that prefers a side of story with my action main course.
