Review of Underworld: Evolution (2006) by Danny R — 15 Aug 2010
The saga continues in this action-packed and thrilling sequel, as the battles rages on between the aristocratic Vampires and the barbaric Lycans. The Vampire Selene, strikingly played Kate Beckinsale and the Lycan hybrid Michael Corvin, a solid Michael Speedman are now on the run after slaying the Vampire elder Viktor.
They themselves are now hunted by the Vampires and the Lycans. But they now face a new foe, Marcus another Vampire elder, who is an unstoppable super powerful winged demon, impressively played by Tony Curran, who is truly scary in the role.
Marcus is hellbent on liberating his monstrous, imprisoned Werewolf brother. The film surpass the original as far as story development, we learn a great deal more about each character's past, which helps justify all the intense and extreme violence.
The visual effects, The make-up which is amazingly well done, the cinematography and the action sequences are all outstanding, especially the scene when the winged nemesis Marcus is pursing our heros Selene and Michael Corvin in their truck.
The Climactic final battles with Marcus and his beastly brother against Selene, Michael and small army of Vampire soldiers is a stunner. A fully realized action horror film. Highly Recommended.
