Review of Underworld: Blood Wars (2016) by Jared B — 05 Dec 2016
Sad to say, not a good one. Franchise started-off well but this latest installment is weak.
Usual pretty girl, good-looking guy, older fatherly figure, guns and swords but the screenplay feels like it was written the day of shooting. "OK people, we have a set, we know we want a fight, so what can we do to make that happen today, on-budget that's not been done in the previous 4 movies - aaaannnd, ACTION!".
Wouldn't be surprised if the financials on this one finish-off the series. Shame because the characters are kind of cool and a lot could have been done with them - particularly with the Corvinus legacy angle.
Upside? Kate Beckinsale is the best-looking mammal to have ever walked this big blue marble - my goodness! No point blaming any of the players, FX or art in this - it was just a really, really weak story.
