Review of Underworld: Blood Wars (2016) by Matthew F. J — 15 Dec 2016
Had not seen the previous four films but my friends seemed excited about this new opus and the trailer was so action packed, I thought I would give it a shot and be open minded. The cinematography was at first interesting, some camera moves and angles were savvy but the faster than the speed of light editing ends up wasting everything and all thats left is an avalanche of images your brain wil not exactly know what to make of it.
I also liked the icy blue colors, but a whole film entirely shot in that type of light ends up being a little heavy. The costumes were pretty high-tech and everyone in this film looked like a model straight out of a Benetton add.
That's about all I have to say, since this film felt to me like a total waste of my time and money, I did not understand anything to the plot and kept on wondering why in the world these people don't stop to kill each others for a minute, so they could talk about their issues instead of splashing guts all over the screen.
Maybe that's exactly what the film is supposed to be ...so I guess i'll pass on the previous ones and will definitely not bother watching the next one if they decide they need to make it.
