Review of Undertow (2009) by Serdar C — 18 Apr 2010
In a small village by the ocean in Peru, there is a belief that when a person dies they must be buried in water by the person they love in order to find peace in the afterlife.
When the outsider in the village, a gay painter, drowns in the ocean, his ghost comes back to talk with his lover who has a pregnant wife. He needs to find the body and bury it for his lover to find the peace but that means he will have to confess to his wife and all the village that he loved this man.
Won the Audience Award in Sundance, this is probably one of the best movies about the love between two men.
