Review of Undertow (2009) by I-Onell S — 04 Jul 2011
A delightful movie about a married Peruvian fisherman who has a affair with a painter while his wife is expecting his kid. The critics loved this one but the plot of self-discovery has been told countless times before.
The movie is memorable for the beautiful cinematography and although it deals witht he homophobia of the Villagers, they are understanably human. I found the movie slow but I really liked the ending where Miguel (very good Cristian Mercado) decides to give his lover a decent burial.
Although it's not overly sentimental, it's very heartfelt.
