Review of Under the Tuscan Sun (2003) by Henry F — 15 Jan 2009
I watched this movie on my junior year in college on a screenplay writing class. Our professor put it on for us a part of a 'goodbye to the class' intention because he'd done it with past classes.
I can honestly say that the whole class enjoyed the film and I was no exception. I had never seen it before, but as a fan of Diane Lane I knew which movie was and had always wanted to see it. Still, I never saw it because for some reason I thought I wasn't gonna enjoy it.
.. boy... was I wrong!! With a fantastic dialogue and an incredibly smart development of plot and characters this films becomes an irresistible and sweetly mind refreshing movie where one can truly identify oneself with the main character.
Diane gives, once again, an excellent performance, playing a woman who's life has been turned upside down and who's coming together might be compared to the coming together of her new house. Matched up with another excellent performance given by the extraordinary Sandra Oh, can't believe I used to hate her once.
.. Finally, lets not forget the gorgeous and amazing settings where the movie was filmed, just 'cuz of them the film is worth it.
