Review of Under the Tuscan Sun (2003) by Jeff S — 25 Mar 2013
Every time I watch this movie I want to move to Tuscany and buy a run-down villa and reinvent myself. It would be awesome if we could do that. But this is a thoroughly enjoyable "you'll get over that heart break" movie, and Diane Lane is great in it.
Just the right amount of sadness, hope, and vulnerability. One part of this film that sort of irritates me is how Francis has her heart broken while she's in Tuscany recovering from a heart break.
Everyone says "get back on the horse....get out there and start dating again." So she does. And then her freshly healing heart gets smashed AGAIN! But this story wouldn't convey the life lesson it teaches the rest of the heartbroken world without it.
Great movie. Chick flick? I love Diane Lane. I would watch her paint a wall.
