Terrific characters and storytelling meet expert atmospherics in not only the best Horror of the year but possibly the best film too. Anvari captures the panic and anxiety of the Tehran conflict in the '80s and makes it every bit as haunting and lingering as the indoor scares.
Frightening, injected with thought provoking themes of which there are too many to list and a film that captivates you in the Drama before it traps you in the claustrophobic and atmospheric setting and terrifies you.
A slow burning, superbly acted and ideologically rich masterpiece.
