Review of Under the Same Moon (2007) by Margarita M — 03 Apr 2008

This is sensitive and realistic portrayal of the brave immigrant families who endure separation and hardship to find a better life for their children and families across the border. Kate del Castillo is very convincing as a mother longing to be reunited with her child.

And the boy who plays Carlitos is outstanding! Even though the movie is extremely sad at times (by the end of the movie, there wasn't a dry eye left in the house), there are moments of comic relief when Carlitos befriends a grumpy adult who reluctantly becomes his traveling companion.

This is a great family fiilm that teaches about tolerance, love, and overcoming obstacles. Our lawmakers should see this movie!
